Did you know? Everyone in your meeting is part of the Quarter. And every meeting needs  PQM Representatives! Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting is made up of 7 monthly meetings  and one preparatory meeting within the city of Philadelphia. At PQM sessions, Friends across  the Quarter join in worship, learning, hosts’ programs, and Spirit-led business.

WHO: Since 1683, constituent worship meetings in the Philadelphia quarter appoint representatives – (today preferably more than one) to serve as a vital communication link between Monthly  Meetings and Quarterly Meeting. They attend and encourage others to participate in the quarter. 

WHY: According to Faith and Practice, quarterly meetings are key to Quaker life. They strengthen  meetings by joining Friends together in quarterly meetings “to support one another through  worship and fellowship, and to consider matters of regional or common concern”.  

WHEN: PQM Representatives attend four (4) sessions of Philadelphia Quarterly Meetings, and four (4) PQM Reps Planning Meetings. Zoom options are often available. 

HOW: “Appointed representatives … do not attend quarterly or yearly meeting as instructed delegates of their meeting, but join others in worship and decision-making that respond to the moving of the Spirit in that time and place.” Faith and Practice, III Faith Reflected in Our Organization, D. • Reps faithfully attend PQM meetings with hearts and minds prepared, open to learning and to  corporately listen for God’s will. We share how Spirit is moving in our meetings with each other. 
• PQM Reps spread the word about the work of the quarter via announcements & reports at their  business meeting. They may bring minutes of concern for seasoning to be brought back to PQM.  
• Reps foster awareness of the benefits of participating in Philadelphia Quarterly Meetings – encourage attenders and members in their monthly meetings to share their Light with PQM.
• PQM Reps may explore with their meeting, clerks, outreach committees and its ministries ways to share knowledge and resources and collaborate with the quarter on common concerns and actions.  
• Reps make up the PQM nominating committee and invite Friends to consider sharing their gifts in  Quarter service. Reps also support the clerk and officers and coordinator with the spiritual and  mundane tasks of the Quarter as they are able and led. Many hands make “LIGHT” work! 
• PQM Reps invite their meeting to make an annual covenant for the fiscal year ending on June 30^th and are a key point person when their meeting hosts a session of Philadelphia Quarterly Meeting.
